It provides quick access for data users such as State Data Centers and news media needing to begin their analysis immediately upon data release. Due to the potentially large size of the files, the FTP user should have a fast file transfer capability. 2) The FTP Directory The directory for the Island Areas' FTP site is http://www2.census.gov/census_2010/06-Island_Areas_DPSF/. When the Interactive Summary Level Access and Navigation Database (ISLAND) is added to each area’s directory, it will contain a single zip package with all the Demographic Profile tables in HTML format, and INDEX.html file which is used as an executable file, this readme file, and associated files used to launch the application. Users of the ISLAND software need to unzip the package after downloading to the local hard drive, then double-click on the "INDEX.html file to begin the application. 3) Software Information Once the package is downloaded and unzipped, the files are located within a directory of the user's choice. The files are in HTML format. To execute the program, the user should double-click on INDEX.html. This will bring up the main menu screen. The first time this is done a prompt will appear which warns the user that Internet Explorer has blocked the website from running scripts. Simply click on the prompt and then click on “Allow Blocked Content,” then click on “Yes” (to allow for active content). Once the main menu is loaded the user must pick a geographic area and a Demographic Profile table. To go back, the user must click on the link "Back to Menu." This application is read-only.
