Washington: The Bureau [producer and distributor], 1995. =>TYPE OF FILE Summary statistics =>UNIVERSE DESCRIPTION The universe of these files is establishments primarily engaged in manufacturing with one or more paid employees. Both operating establishments and auxiliary establishments are included. Manufacturing is defined as the mechanical or chemical transformation of substances or materials into new products. =>SUBJECT-MATTER DESCRIPTION These data are exactly the same as shown in the tables 4 to 8 of the printed Geographic Area Series reports, and most of table 3 of the printed General Summary report in the Subject Series. There are no files corresponding to Geographic Area Series Tables 1 to 3. This file provides the number of establishments, number of employees, payroll, value of shipments, value added, capital expenditures, and other statistics for establishments, classified by the 2-, 3-, 4-digit SIC in which they are primarily engaged. =>GEOGRAPHIC COVERAGE Data are provided for the U.S., states, metropolitan statistical areas (MSA's), consolidated metropolitan statistical areas (CMSA's), primary metropolitan statistical areas (PMSA's), counties, and places with 450 or more manufacturing employees. =>FILE CHARACTERISTICS File Structure: dBASE III+ The file also has several dBASE ".NDX" index files and one or more label files that can be linked to them (e.g., with SIC titles). Includes estimates of the value of manufactured exports and export-related employment, both for directly exported goods and for the indirect requirements supporting manufactured exports.
