This file (WC87A1.dbf) provides selected 1987 data by SIC category. Data items include: Establishments, Sales, Annual payroll, First quarter payroll, Employment, Inventories, and Operating expenses. =>GEOGRAPHIC COVERAGE Data are provided for the following geographic levels: U.S., States, Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA's), Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Areas (CMSA's), Primary Metropolitan Statistical Areas (PMSA's), Area Outside Metropolitan Areas by State (non-MA's), Counties, and Places with populations of 2,500 or more as defined for the 1987 Economic Census. =>SIC/KIND-OF-BUSINESS DETAIL The 1992 Census of Wholesale Trade covers wholesale trade as defined in the 1987 Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Manual. This includes establishments classified in Major Groups 50 and 51. The Geographic Area Series presents data for selected SIC or kind-of- business (KB) codes. The level of kind-of-business detail varies by geography. The categories included in each "stub" may be compared in SICKEY87.dbf.
