Judy Dodds, Assistant Chief for Census and Related Programs, was responsible
for the overall management of the Annual Survey of Manufactures (ASM). She
guided the planning and implementation of the project and coordinated activities
with other divisions. The review and analysis of the data were performed in

The coordination activities, such as developing specifications and procedures
and liaison with the Data Preparation Division, were conducted by Sheila

Williamson, and Brandy Yarbrough under the direction of Dennis L. Shoemaker,
Chief, Post Collection Census Branch.

Overall coordination of the publication process was performed by Baruti A.
Taylor and Julius Smith, Jr., under the direction of A. William Visnansky,
Chief, Special Reports Branch.

The design and implementation of the sample, as well as the coverage
operations designed to maintain the quality of the sample were provided by
the Research and Methodology Staff. This staff also was responsible for the
development of the estimation procedures used by the survey including
estimates of reliability shown in the published tables. Key members of the
Research and Methodology Staff included Stacey Cole, Douglas Bond, Lynn
Imel, and Robert Struble.  This staff worked under the direction of Brian
V. Greenberg, Assistant Chief for Research and Methodology.

The computer processing systems were developed and coordinated under the
direction of Martin S. Harahush, Assistant Chief for Quinquennial Programs,
Economic Statistical Methods and Programming Division. Roy A. Smith, 
Hugh P. Watters, Venancio R. Aguirre, George Boerckel, Robert R. Conard,
Phoung-Mai Do, Florence C. Gapsis, Lori A. Guido, Traci A. Least, Hieu M.
Nguyen, and Charles F. Stout developed the computer editing and tabulation 
programs under the direction of Gary T. Sheridan, Chief, Manufacturing and
Construction Programming Branch.

Mailout preparation and receipt operations, clerical and analytical review
activities, data keying, and geocoding review were performed in the Data
Preparation Division under the direction of Judith N. Petty, Chief.

The staff of Administrative and Customer Services Division, Walter C. Odom,
Chief, performed publication planning, design, composition, editorial review,
and printing planning and procurement. Cynthia G. Brooks provided
publication coordination and editing.
