this CD-ROM is the same as that shown in the printed Geographic

The 1992 Census of Financial, Insurance, and Real Estate Industries
covers primarily the fields of finance, insurance, and real estate.

Finance includes depository institutions, nondepository credit
institutions, holding (but not predominantly operating) companies,
other investment companies, brokers and dealers in securities and
commodity contracts, and security and commodity exchanges. 
Insurance covers carriers of all types of insurance and insurance
agents and brokers.  Real estate includes owners, lessors, lessees,
agents, and developers of real estate.  The Census excludes
Government-operated businesses.

The Geographic Area Series uses 113 SIC or kind-of-business (KB)
classifications.  The level of kind-of-business detail varies by KB
by total number of establishments by geography.

EXTRACT   This software system, included on this CD-ROM, provides
          access to every data item discussed in the Technical
          Description section of this abstract.

GO92      This software system, also included on this CD-ROM,
          provides a more "user-friendly" access to selected
          statistics from the economic censuses.  These include the
          number of establishments, number of employees,
          total wages, and revenues.  GO92 allows the user to
          select any geographic area and shows data by kind of   
          business, or to select any kind of business and show data
          for all geographic areas of a particular type, for
          example, all states.

=>RELATED DATA FILES

Census of Financial, Insurance, and Real Estate Industries, 1992: 
Nonemployer Statistics Series provides revenue for establishments
without payroll by kind of business for the United States, States,
and MSA's.  Also provided is total revenue for all establishments,
that is, revenue of establishments with payroll plus revenue of
establishments without payroll.
