Washington: The Bureau [producer and distributor], 1996. =>TYPE OF FILE Summary statistics =>UNIVERSE DESCRIPTION The universe of these files is all operating establishments with one or more paid employees primarily engaged in mineral industries. This universe includes all establishments classified in the mining Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Codes 1011 through 1499. Auxiliary establishments are included in all files. =>SUBJECT-MATTER DESCRIPTION These data are exactly the same as are shown in the printed 1992 Census of Mineral Industries Final General Summary report. This publication summarizes the statistics presented in the Final Industry Series and Geographic Area Series reports, as well as statistics unique to this report. The data from this publication are presented in the 21 files discussed below. INDUSTRY (establishment-based) STATISTICS are featured in each of the NC92SF* files (1A, 1B, 2, 3A, 3B, 4A, and 5). These files contain data on the number of establishments, employment, payroll, value of shipments, value added, capital expenditures, and other statistics for establishments, classified by the 2-, 3-, and 4-digit SIC in which they are primarily engaged. To a lesser extent, these data are also classified by employment- size class, state, and year. The structures of these files parallel the files from the Final Industry Series. GEOGRAPHIC AREA (establishment-based) STATISTICS are featured in each of the NC92SA* files (1, 2A, 2B, 3, 4, and 5). These files contain data on the number of establishments, employment, payroll, value of shipments, value added, capital expenditures, and other statistics for establishments at the All Mineral Industries level. These data are also published by state and offshore area, and year, and to a lesser extent, by type of operation. The structures of these files parallel the files from the Geographic Area Series. MISCELLANEOUS (establishment-based) STATISTICS are featured in each of the NC92SM* files (3A, 3B, 4B, 6, 7, and 8). These files contain data on the number of establishments, employment, payroll, value of shipments, value added, capital expenditures, and other statistics for establishments at the All Mineral Industries level and by the 2-digit SIC in which they are primarily engaged. To a lesser extent, these data are also classified by type of organization and year.
