Establishments with no paid employees, for example, "mom and pop" stores, are not included in the Geographic Area Series files, but are included in the Nonemployer Statistic Series. =>SUBJECT-MATTER DESCRIPTION The information included on the Geographic Area Series files of this CD-ROM is the same as that shown in the printed Geographic Area Series, RC92-A-1 to 52, except that employment and payroll figures appear by kind of business for small counties and places on CD-ROM but not in the corresponding printed tables. This series of three files provides 1992 and selected 1987 data by SIC category. This includes establishments classified in Major Groups 52-59. The Census does include Liquor stores operated by state and local governments; however all other government operated businesses are excluded. The Geographic Area Series uses 134 SIC or kind-of-business (KB) classifications. The level of kind-of-business detail varies by geography. The categories included in each "Stub" may be compared in SICKEY92.dbf. GO92 This software system, also included on this CD-ROM, provides a more "user-friendly" access to selected statistics from the economic censuses. These statistics include the number of establishments, number of employees, and sales. GO92 allows the user to select any geographic area and show data by kind of business, or to select any kind of business and show data for all geographic areas of a particular type, for example, counties within a specified state. =>RELEASE SCHEDULE On the early CD-ROM releases the files consist of data for selected states, with no national totals. States included on the current disc are listed in the "What's New?" menu. See "What's New?" for a release schedule. =>RELATED DATA FILES Census of Retail Trade, 1992: Nonemployer Statistics Series provides sales for establishments without payroll by kind of business for the United States, States, metropolitan areas, counties, and places.
