1992 CENSUS OF RETAIL TRADE
     
The Nonemployer Statistics Series includes number of 
establishments and sales by kind of business for all 
establishments, establishments with payroll and establishments 
without payroll (i.e., no paid employees) for the United States, 
States, metropolitan areas, counties, and places.
     
This is the only series that provides data on nonemployers.     
Nonemployers account for about 50 percent of all retail 
establishments, but less than 3 percent of retail sales.
     
These data are provided on a separate CD-ROM (1992 Economic 
Census CD-ROM Volume 4, Nonemployer Statistics) sent to all 
subscribers to CD-ROM Volume 1, Report Series; the 
Nonemployer Statistics (Volume 4) disc is also available for 
purchase separately.
