=>UNIVERSE DESCRIPTION

The Truck Inventory and Use Survey is based on a probability
sample of private and commercial trucks registered (or licensed)
in each State during 1992.  A sample of 153,914 trucks was
surveyed to measure the universe of over 60 million trucks.

=>SUBJECT-MATTER DESCRIPTION

The data included on this CD-ROM are similar to the data shown in
the printed publications, TC92-T-01 through TC92-T-52.  The
Truck Inventory and Use Survey (TIUS) provides data on the
physical and operational characteristics of the Nation's truck
population.  The following data are available:  leasing
information (type, length, and options), major use and principal
products carried (including percent of mileage carried hazardous
material), maintenance information, and equipment data (engine,
brake type, power steering, fuel, conservation equipment, body
and vehicle type, size class, and cab type), vehicle make, cubic
inch displacement, and annual and lifetime miles.
