1992 CENSUS OF TRANSPORTATION 1992 TRUCK INVENTORY AND USE SURVEY SUMMARY OF FINDINGS FOR CONNECTICUT TRUCK CHARACTERISTICS The estimated number of trucks that were within the scope of the TIUS and registered in the State during 1992 was 543,600, a 24.1 percent increase from 1987. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) estimate of the number of private and commercial trucks registered in the State as of December 31, 1992, was 108,500. This estimate is based on a calendar year summary report from each State. It reflects differences in truck definitions used by each State for vehicle registration from those used in the TIUS. SAMPLE DESIGN A probability sample of 3,037 trucks was selected to represent the universe of trucks registered in the State in 1992. RELIABILITY OF THE ESTIMATES For the State, approximately 91.9 percent of the questionnaires were returned with some response.
