The universe is all transportation, communications, and utilities establishments
with payroll.  Establishments with no paid employees are not included in the
Revenue Lines files, but are included in the Nonemployer Statistics files (CD-ROM
Disc 4).


=>SUBJECT-MATTER DESCRIPTION

The information included on the Revenue Lines files of this CD-ROM is the same
as in the printed Miscellaneous Subjects report.

This file provides 1992 data by revenue line within kind of business.  File 1
(UC92L1.dbf) shows the number of establishments handling the line and the
revenue of that line; and coverage.

Data are provided for the United States, States, and selected States.


=>SIC/KIND-OF-BUSINESS DETAIL

The 1992 Census of Transportation, Communications, and Utilities as defined in
Division E of the 1987 Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Manual covered
establishments classified in Major Groups 40-49 except for SIC Major Group 43,
United States Postal Service.

The Revenue Lines files present data for selected SIC or kind-of-business (KB)
codes.  The KB codes may be referenced in SICKEY92.dbf.


=>SOFTWARE ACCESS

EXTRACT   This software system, included on this CD-ROM, provides access
to every record in the UC92L1.dbf file.

GO92 This software system, also included on this CD-ROM, provides a
preformatted access to selected statistics from the economic census.  These
statistics include number of establishments, revenue, and revenue of  reporting
establishments as a percentage of total revenue, and coverage.  GO92 allows the
user to display U.S. or State data by revenue line within kind of business.


=>RELEASE SCHEDULE

Release 1i (this release) of Volume 1  includes Revenue Lines data for
Transportation, Communications, and Utilities.
