Establishment statistics are presented by sales size and by employment size; statistics for firms, by sales size (including concentration by largest firms), by employment size, and by number of establishments operated (single units and multiunits). Statistics are presented by kind of business and type of operation on the number of establishments and sales. Merchant wholesalers, however, include data on payroll, employment, operating expenses, and inventories. This series of seven files provides 1992 data by SIC category and type of operation. This includes establishments classified in Major Groups 50 and 51. The Establishment and Firm Size report uses 208 SIC or kind-of-business (KB) classifications. The level of kind-of-business detail varies by type of operation and file. In files WC92S1 and WC92S2 there are 208 KB's for merchant wholesalers only; 88 KB's for all other type of operations. In files WC92S3-S7 only 88 KB's are used.
