Monthly AES Fatal Error Focus

**********************************************************************

In a continued effort to increase the awareness of the AES filers’ responsibility to correct and resubmit AES shipments that generate Fatal Error responses from the Automated Export System, the U.S. Census Bureau is highlighting Fatal Error Response Codes 503 and 624 this month.

As a reminder, 15 CFR Part 30 - Foreign Trade Regulations Section 30.9 states that these errors must be corrected and EEI resubmitted prior to export for shipments filed predeparture and as soon as possible for shipments filed postdeparture but not later than ten calendar days after departure.

Fatal Error Response Code: 503

Narrative:    License Code Missing
Reason:       The License Code is missing (i.e., reported as spaces).
Resolution:   The License Code/ License Exemption Code must be reported on every EEI
                   (Electronic Export Information).

See Appendix F, License and License Exemption Type Codes and Reporting
                  Guidelines.

Verify the License Code/ License Exemption Code, correct the shipment and
                  resubmit.

Fatal Error Response Code: 624

Narrative:    Schedule B/ HTS Number Outdated – Cannot Be Used
Reason:       The Schedule B/ HTS Number reported is no longer valid in AES.

(i.e., expired). Compare the Estimated Date of Export to the Begin and End
date of the Schedule B/HTS Number reported, correct the shipment and
